Why is their no Filipino translation of the Harry Potter series?

   lol im filipino and been living in the philippines for ten years just moved here about 3 years ago. in my experience filipinos dont need translations for english because most of them can understand it and its part of there national languages and they also teach it at school starting from kindergarten. jst like how they teach french in the english-speaking parts of canada and vice-versa.. and ur right we dont really read harry potter books there [ive read the whole series tho] it became famous because of the movies and all.

   There isn’t a Philippians ( or Filipino) translation of Harry Potter? How odd! So people in Philippines don’t read the Harry Potter books? Then how is it famous over there….?

   You should try to contact your biggest book publisher, I know, it’s not fair, I felt left out when the sixth book appeared all over the world last July, and Serbian translation was due to September… I felt terrible, so I can imagine how could you feel not having a translation at all…
   Try making a web page for all those that would like to read Harry Potter in your own language, make a petition or something, and send it to the publishers… Some of them are sure to recognize a good business opportunity in that…

   Well, if the harry potter books will be translated in filipinos

   I believe most filipinos really don’t like books written in filipino, they like it more in english.

   i’m a filipina know why because a majority of our people can speak and understand english even those located in far flung barrios particularly the older generation they speak correct english unlike the new generation that are more prone to taglish a corrupted version of tagalog english

   Most Filipinos consider English as their second language, and it might have crossed publishers’ minds that it’s not really worth the cost to make a Philippine translation for the HP series.

   Also, this may just be me (I’m Filipino, by the way), but I like reading the Harry Potter series, or any fiction book for that matter, in English. =/

   Filipinos don’t need translations. First of all, Filipinos can understand English pretty well, thank you. And second, Philippines is the only country that can speak Tagalog; why waste time translating it when the only country that can understand Tagalog can also understand English?

   Because almost all Filipinos could understand English language. Filipino’s medium of instruction in school is English so what’s the point of translating a novel then.

    we filipinos can understand english very well.. so it does’nt matter. as a matter of fact we have our own accent. lol
