Because people aren’t bothered like you said to research it themselves. Tagalogs a brilliant language to research.
… what are you talking about?
Perhaps people are just being lazy – try explaining that just because you speak English and live in England you do not have to be English.
Incidentally we have a lot of Filipinos in my town and my diocese and we always have a Tagalog reading at major Christian services such as Christmas and Easter.
The same reason that they may think Belgian is the language of Belgium or that Canadian is the language of Canada.
did your filipino teacher teach you filipino? Tagalog is just one of the dialects. Filipino is the national language, not Tagalog. You are misinforming here, honey.
FYI It’s not called Tagalog anymore, it’s Filipino. The national language was called Tagalog then but it has been changed to Filipino. Maybe it’s you who should do some research this time.
F is included in the new Alpabetong Filipino (there are 28 letters in all): all the letters in the english alphabet PLUS ng and ñ. So it now goes A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, Ñ, NG, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z.
C, F, J, Ñ, Q, V, X and Z are called "hiram na titik" (borrowed) =)
nanaynikikay,
I thought that was the case. When I left the Philippines in 1986, I remember there was a strong movement to change the National language from Tagalog to Pilipino. However, since I left, I didn’t follow-up on it. Thank you for that clarification.
I do have to say though, that since the Pilipino alphabet does not include the letter F, isn’t it Pilipino?
— Edit: OH MY! This gets more confusing. Nanay is right!!! It IS Filipino. Check out that page below. It describes the history and differences of Tagalog, Pilipino, and Filipino.
FYI you’re just being dumb, Filipino is the national language of the Philippines. It is based on Tagalog but also includes elements from the other languages of the Philippines, such as Bisaya, Ilongo, Cebuano and Ilokano, and from Spanish, English and Chinese.
that was i think a few years back when the president was manuel quezon… but as i know the philippines has declared that their national language is filipino.. that’s because the other people who speak a different dialect like pampango, cebuano and the likes feel that they are not counted… so to make a solution it was turned to filipino… long story short… the language was called from tagalog to pilipino to filipino, because letters from the englsh alphabet was added too…
