Why do Filipinos insists on speaking Tagalog on this site?
I understand there are several dialects being spoken in the Philippines but why insist in Tagalog? What are your thoughts about these to all those who speak different dialects?

I don’t insist on answering Tagalog on this site other than doing translation for question/s being asked or for some other dialects that I speak.
When a person have signed up to use yahoo services it only means that we must adhere to the policies and agreements when we electronically signed and accepted it.
Therefore, I see no point of such persuasion other than Filipinos should create a site of their own powered by those who support where all dialects that are being spoken should be used and not only Tagalog.
In my own opinion, insisting on speaking Tagalog on this site is like shoving it in someone else’s throat who dislike speaking the Tagalog language.
Because Tagalog is the national language (aside from English), and it is the lingua franca of most Filipinos, both in the Philippines and abroad. Being one of those people who speak an additional dialect (it`s actually referred to as a minority language) aside from Tagalog, I think it`s pretty cool, speaking 3 languages.
Although it did suck when one of my best answers in Y!A Philippines got deleted because I answered in Tagalog
Tagalog IS filipino language. its not a dialect but is considered a national language in the philippines. assuming by saying dialect your implying different communication usages in the philippine’s archipelago. therefore we do not insist, it just is.
baby speaks both. Not a problem. I think more Cebuanos speak Tagalog than the other way. Most here are from Luzon.
Knowing how to speak multiple languages can be a definite asset. Filipinos have functional fluency in English, Tagalog, and often, a dialect. Just as Chinese use Mandarin to communicate in a country that has hundreds of dialects, Filipinos use Taglish, English and Tagalog to speak to each other.
its are national language
I think the Yahoo police force should require the use of English on this site. This site supposedly is open to all the world.
I only speak german and english but I’m a half Filipino but I guess it’s because tagalog is the national language? So that even those of the other parts of the Philippines can communicate with each other – different regions speak different dialects. The words may not have the same meanings and the way it is spoken may also be different. That only leaves tagalog – right? My mother wanted to teach me Kinaray-A (Visayan dialect) but I wanted to learn tagalog so I can at least communicate in Manila – well, she didn’t teach me anything after that decision
since almost all who were answering in this site were filipinos, then, we should speak the langauge!:)
if we insist we do so at our own peril. this is an english only-site so unless we are doing translations we better use english.
most filipinos do understand tagalog but not all of us speak it fluently and eloquently. some are more well-versed in their native language, which could be ilocano or cebuano or whatever; not necessarily tagalog.
Through out the country, those who finished schooling for least the sixth grade, can speak Tagalog, (or Filipino) for it is required, like the English language. Other dialects are not studied in schools and so are not widely spoken through out the country. However, if you can speak English and Filipino, you you can freely mix with the Filipino people.
This is the Philippines category so why would speaking Tagalog on this site be an issue?
I speak a dialect — a dialect refers to the lanuage being spoken by certain group of people in the archipelago other than the national language which is the Tagalog — but I think that speaking a dialect in this category is not practical for not everyone in this category can understand that dialect. And it is alright with me if Filipinos would use Tagalog/Filipino in this category.
Some YAPpers (YAhoo! Answers Philippines users) insist to speak in Tagalog for different reasons.
I am so annoyed with eople saying that their answers were deleted just because they answered it in Tagalog. I mean, nobody can tell us not to speak Tagalog in this category.
I did not insist! Who told you?
BECAUSE THIS THE PHILIPPINE SECTION.
If you answer in dialect, only few would understand; if you do it in Filipino, some would understand; but if you do it in English, everyone will understand.
As my filipino teacher told me, Tagalog is the linga franca of most of the Filipinos especially on northern Luzon area and therefore had been accepted as the national language. Since the trade mostly happens in Manila and Tagalog is the dialect there, it had been adapted and accepted as the main language.
because people here are not good with english hahahh!!!
even when they are with a foreigner they like talking in tagalog even thought they know that person can’t understand whatthey are talking about.
and they shouldn’t be talking in tagalog here coz not everyone can understand that.
