The Philippine language is called Tagalog
I'm half Filipino and half British and go visit my family in Philippines nearly every summer... I always feel awkward since they all talk in Tagalog and I really don't understand anything and they don't really talk in English to me much though they do know a bit but are too shy... I really need help in learning Tagalog!

You’re half Filipino! You have a good resource – family!
Just tell them you want to learn and start practicing speaking and learning words. It might be embarrassing and terrifying to screw it up, but unless you put yourself out there, you will not learn.
