What is the fastest and easiest way to learn Tagalog?
I'm half pinoy half white. I live with my mom who is white. Whenever I visit my filipino family they speak in tagalog and I barely understand. I don't get to see my dad often so he can't really teach me.

The Nature Method!
I suggest go to a larger bookstore ( National Bookstore ) here in Philippines., there should be a lot of books on this. A japanese friend of mine, bought a cassette tape before ( in National Bookstore also ) prpbably its in CD format now,. He learned it quite well .
The contents are basically day to day conversation. But however way you look at it. The best way is always "practice". Whenever you see your dad, just throw in a couple of tagalog word / phrase you learned, start from there. I’m guessing he will be impressed
Having a filipino friend is adviceble too, this way you exchange emails in taglish first and then move towards to more tagalog words…
Good to hear your interested in learning tagalog… Mabuhay ka !!
You could go to a Filipino embassy in Manhattan,NY
the fast and easier way…
–> buy a book or learn through internet and recording
the methodological and quite effective way…
–> ask your relatives to teach you, even the basics
My mom used to read tagalog comics. I’m not sure if there still are decent ones today. A lot of Chinese kids in the Philippines learn tagalog from watching TV – whatever interests you. Or buy filipino films on DVD with english subtitles. Easier to learn conversational tagalog this way if you do not have a filipino friend or relative to talk to. Visit http://www.divisoria.com – they sell filipino DVDs and ship to the U.S.
Read komiks
you could buy books and try to study it but for sure and i know it is hard.
if you really want to learn then you should hire a language tutor. it is cheap i think.
