Like they always randomly throw in phrases and words in English into a regular sentence when they're speaking Tagalog.

I'm taking a filipino language class in college (my boyfriends family is filipino) and I'm making a gift but want to sign it I love you in filipino at the end.. something we haven't covered in class yet..

On one website it used the words Mahal and kita -- which, I looked up kita and it said something about earnings or wages.. I don't want his family to pick it up and read that I love his wages or something incorrect.. can someone help?
hah, well do you have any other phrases I could use?

such as.. i miss you.. stay amazing (inside joke we have) i don't know.. random things? that way I could write the whole letter in filipino..

I have a Filipino lover. Can anyone give me some phrases that may turn him on in the Tagalog language and then the meaning in English.

My knowledge of Tagalog is limited to simple phrases like "salamat" and "mahal kita". I'm really curious how calendar years are said in the Filipino language. Thank you for your answers.

1. I miss you alot.

2. That's not true!

3. What do you do in your spare time?

4. I love the Mall.

5. I feel like starbucks.

6. I don't want to get fat.

7. I didn't get that?

I want to know these phrases in tagalog because if I am having a 3 way conversation somewhere and if I want to talk to the person next to me but not the other person, then I dont want them to know what I am saying. Because I could be talking about the other person. Ok, well hope I can get answers!

I'm a Filipino who's trying to learn Japanese. I'm tired of taking Spanish all the time(I took Spanish because a lot of Spanish words are loan words in Tagalog). If I was a fluent Tagalog speaker, would it would it be easier for me to learn Japanese?

Since Tagalog words can be pronounced in phrases(For example, "Hanapin ko kayo/Ha-na-pin ko ka-yo") Our grammatical structure is different in comparison to English. It's basically Verb-Subject-Object,(For example,"Kakain ako kanin.","Will eat I rice", is what it pretty much translates to.)
Any opinions?? Extra information onto these guesstimations that weren't mentioned in my question would be considered helpful also. Thanks.

I am a Caucasian guy and I am trying to speak Tagalog in the Philippines. I get all kinds of weird reactions. Some 20% of people answer in Tagalog. Some 20% just stand there shocked turning and mumbling to others near them: "Marunong sya magtagalog, marunong sya magtagalog" or repeating that phrase to me and not answering the question that I ask them, some 50% stubbornly answer in English- they look uptight, tense as if they are facing a teacher and some even stand at attention. The others start acting weird- they go" yeah, yeah" ( instead of saying oo, oo) and some even start swaggering and limping and acting like hip hop gangsters- "yo, what's happenin' maaaan".
I have to battle it daily in my struggle to speak Filipino to Filipino people in the Philippines. So, could you please help me with these phrases by translating them?:

Can you please just act natural like you would with any other person?
Can you please stop acting like a gangster?
Can you please stop swaggering?
Please treat me as an equal.
Please treat me like anyone else.
Please stop acting uptight and just relax and talk to me like you would talk to anyone else.
Please don’t give me special treatment, I am just a regular person.
Never mind Tagalog, could you please just answer the question.

Does anyone know what "TNT" stands for?
I know it's an acronym for something.

#17. You make acronyms for phrases: 'OA' = overacting, 'DOM' = dirty old man, and 'TNT' for... You know.

Hi everyone,

I was wondering how do you say these phrases/words in Filipino

No
No tantrums
No hitting

It would be appreciated

I'm in love with a beautiful woman from the Philippines. She speakes Cebuano and tagalog. What words in Tagalog can I say to tell her how much I care and love her. Any good phrases I could say for someone I love in Tagalog? Thank you for your help.

Any good recommendations on how to learn Tagalog? A way so that it is fun and sticks to my head? I realized I like learning the basics...the words and phrases used most in the Philippines as well as the sentence structure.

Any good translation websites?

Thanks!

I really don't necessarily need to learn to speak it, but I would like to understand it since I'm around Filipino people at work. I'm always wondering what they're saying ;p.

Anyway, is it very difficult to learn to understand it? How long would it take for me to start picking up phrases? Anyone know of some sites? I've always wanted to learn a new language so I would find this interesting.

Your US-born daughter wants to visit the Philippines with two of her American girlfriends (all over 18 yo). They're planning to spend a week in Boracay, a week in Baguio City and a week in Manila. This her first time to set foot in the Philippines and doesn't speak Tagalog at all (altho could understand a few words/phrases). Would you allow her? Why/why not?

My girlfriend always bugs me about teaching her some tagalog words or phrases. I speak and understand it very fluently but i suck at spelling it! Is there a program that i could download that would convert a whole english sentence into tagalog? Instead of me looking at some online language dictionary and would have to translate it word for word.

I can speak tagalog but very little. My family is from the Philippines and I would like to communicate with them better.. I have read some books and websites..but all they really give you is phrases. I was wondering if there is anything I can learn from, that indroduces vocabulary and sentence structure little by little.......thanks so much!

I may have spelled it wrong... sounds like "ah nu bah". I work with a lot of Filipinos, and I'm too embarrassed to ask, but that's one of the phrases I hear a LOT, especially among the girls when someone's teasing them.

And is there a good source for looking up phrases, pronunciation, and grammar? Thanks in advance.

And i was looking for a site with sentences and phrases and words on it. (like an online phrasebook/dictionary). ty
Im just learning it for fun with my friend.

I want to learn how to speak Tagalog. I really like the language and culture and I have friends who speak, but they can only do so much and I know a few words. *the simple ones*. I tried looking online to learn but I mostly get dictionaries and little phrases. But i want to learn it like I'm learning Japanese. Like sentence structure and being tested online and things like that. So if you could help that would be great.

Salamat!!

i want to say something cute to my girlfriend, who speaks tagalog. Could somebody translate these phrases? or come up with other cute phrases for me?

I adore you
I miss you so much
You’re beautiful!
I want your kisses all the time.
You make me happy

thank you soo much !

:]one of my closest friends speaks it so im learning it cuz ….. idk cuz I can ;]
But im kinda … Filipino and have the accent of one so sue me =p LOL
I have a good American accent too but learning to separate my pinoy/ American accent took like 3 years xD im trying tho ;o; (mehh I still have the occasional phuq up x3)

Also if its not too much trouble I cant find anything on how the grammar is so the best I can do is observe sentences if you can find anything that will help xD…… gimmie ;-;
=p and the biggest problem im having is that I cant find any mp3 tutorials for this language o: the best I can do is look at a pronunciation chart and/or look at youtube vids containing the language (the only one I could is a documentary about that war thing :I and they talk way to fast x3) so if you know where I can download a free mp3 file with the pronunciation of basic words/phrases/numbers OOOOOOO: that would be awesome (or a torrent ;3 that can work too)
Cuz when its just written I cant tell the difference at all between
Things like Č and ć or z and ž o:

Hvala lijepo ;]

1. I miss you alot.

2. That's not true!

3. What do you do in your spare time?

4. I love the Mall.

5. I feel like starbucks.

6. I don't want to get fat.

I'm Filipino born here in America and I have a lot of friends that are too. We all have one thing in common in that we can't really understand Tagalog except when it comes to short phrases, curse words, and foods. Is there a reason for this? Because my mom just gets annoyed when I ask her about it. :P

Apparently it's common because most of the American Filipinos I meet don't speak the language. It makes me sad sometimes because I wish I could talk to my relatives in the Philippines in Tagalog but I can't.

coz a i heard their phrases..its soo hard for me to follow it...what do u think?

I'm a Filipino but I have no idea how to speak tagalog. I'll learn the words, but sometimes the words go in reverse.
Like if I say "I'm a girl" it would be "Bobae ako" (sorry for my spelling if i spelled it wrong) And it just says "girl me" right? So I get confused because what if I wanted to speak tagalog and I say it wrong?
Some phrases aren't in reverse but uh....
idk...

Just curious- how many have you seen that can converse in Tagalog beyond just a few phrases-meaning ''fluent'' ( as in flowing- making sentences, conveying ideas, asking directions, etc).
Joryday, I tried to email you to congratulate you but you do not allow emails- you said you speak to foreigners in their own language? Wow, you mean you are fluent in Japanese, Korean, Hindi and all the Chinese dialects as well as German, Swedish and Spanish?
Paolo, you have met 800 foreigners on a website who all speak fluent Tagalog? Where is that website?

I have been learning words and phrases, but I still can't carry on a conversation in Tagalog. The confusion lies in the format. In English, we use past, present and future tenses, so Tagalog has been hard for me to grasp. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Haha..thanks Dick, I am dating a filipina, which is why I am trying to learn Tagalog. She can only teach me so much, ya know?

how do you say these phrases in Tagalog?:

-"Don't do that, then!"
-"So?"
-"When I grow up...."
-"Until now,...."
-"What does it look like I'm doing?!"

Thanks.

I viewed some Philippine TV programs and commercials on youtube and was amazed at many people speaking Tagalog with bits of English words and phrases mixed in it. Of course, I know those are the official languages of the Philippines. Why is that so common?

I am looking for a program or translation website that will translate phrases and sentences from English into Tagalog and reverse.
Not just words.
My understanding of Tagalog is almost nil, and I do not have the grammatical skills necessary for proper sentence formation in Tagalog.
That makes any word only or dictionary program/web site useless to me.
