My native and (obviously) first language is Tagalog, and my second language is English. I can read Korean and I can speak some basic Japanese. But I want to know which would be easier for me because I would really love to learn both but which one is easier?
Here's what I've read and know about each language:
Japanese:
Harder to read (well at least for me, memorizing the kanji and all the possible readings and figuring out which reading to use when, but hiragana and katakana are easy)
Easier pronounciation
Easier grammar
Korean:
Easy to read (I learned it in a day)
Harder pronunciation (sort of for me.)
Harder grammar (but I read that just a verb (for casual conversations) is the only needed part to make a sentence?)
Some of the things I've listed are just things I've heard from people.
Well, I've been in America for about 4 years now and I'm afraid I'm losing my ability to speak both ilocano and tagalog. I try to speak it at home but then I forget to. D= I'd like to email with someone (I do have AIM but I always forget to go on even though I have to) and keep up with my language. Tagalog used to be my first language and ilocano (which I don't remember how I learned it) my second. Now English moved up to first. O.o
So if someone does speak ilocano or tagalog I would be more than happy to talk to you.

I'm thinking of doing Japanese, Korean, or Filipino. I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE TO DO?!
Filipino: 'Cause I'm a Filipina and Filipino is my first language.
Japanese: Wanted to learn this because I really liked watching Anime. I would like to live in Japan.
Korean: Because most of my favorite songs and artists are Korean.
BTW, this is a How-To Speech. I'm just teaching my classmates how to say some basic greetings on one of these languages...But which language should I choose, though!!!!!?????!!!!???
Because in countries like Japan, people can surely speak Japanese because it is their language and most can speak English because it is an international language but some people can only speak Japanese especially the one who didn't go to international school....how about in the Philipines? Are there some people who can't speak English or is Tagalog ..their first language ?
English is my 2nd language. I started learning it when I was 3, I'm
now 17.
My first language was tagalog (filipino) but I forgot it, I don't even understand it anymore nor speak it /:
My sister because she came her when she was 7, but my other little sister can't (she was born here)
Is it possible for me to relearn my first language?
I speak Tagalog as my first language and I always speak it in public when I'm with family and people usually gives me some sort of angry stare, like they're about to yell "THIS IS AMERICA! SPEAK ENGLISH!". I just need your opinion on this.
@ oldasdirtandknowsitall: Tagalog is one of the many languages spoken in the Philippines.(Just in case your wondering.)
I'm actually Filipino but I was born in the United States. My first language was English and it has been my only language. My entire family speaks Tagalog except for me, and they always speak Tagalog to me. I am able to understand but I cannot pronounce the words or make a complete sentence. Is it possible for me to learn to speak Tagalog fluently? I am currently 14.
