When the duke welcomed his son back a messenger from the king came and gave a letter to the duke.the letter said that the king of krotona seeks help,his kingdom is under siege by the moors,led by the cruelgeneral ozmalik of persia. so the duke immediatly organized his troop and marched off. when they reached the palace,the king welcomed them.florante,the son of the duke fell in love with the king's daughter named laura.laura also felt a strong admirationfor florante.as the days passed they fell in love with each other and love began to bloom.the duke,florante and medrano,who was a good friend of the king went to battle,they fougth for five hours but none of them were tired.florante was able to kill ozmalik with a strike of his sword.when they went back to krotona they had a celebration.but whem the duke, florante and medrano were about to return home to albamia they found out that albania had fallen into the hand of the moors.the moors also captured the king and the duke.
