my friend received a text message from an unknown person with different Filipino dialect.. i'm not sure if it's in bisaya, ilocano, etc. can someone translate this please in tagalog or in english:

'Ke kaw anay bakal bahog sang baboy peneser ang bakla.ke'

it seems like it's a derogative message

I was born in Manila, Philippines, but moved to Canada when I was young. I still speak/understand Tagalog. I always seem to combine Tagalog and English together, that nowadays I don't even know how to say that English word in Tagalog.

For example, "Ma, mag-sho-shower lang ako ha?" "Nag coo-cook ako ng food."
Which mean, Ma, I'm just gonna shower okay? and I'm cooking food.

I want to just speak pure Tagalog without substituting any English words into it, but it's become a habit of mine and my family's, how can I stop this?
Also, how can I build up my vocabulary again? I have forgotten a lot of words, but not exactly "forgotten", like I can't think of it myself but if someone says that word to me, I remember it and the meaning of the word, unless I've never heard of the word before.

Also, I have a question for Bisaya and Ilocano people, do you guys also combine English into your language?

to all Filipinos... we are by far the most non-nationalistic people in Asia pacific.. (did you know that there are more Japanese who can write alibata than Filipinos) It is said that our country remain poor and dirty morally and physically due to lack of love to our islands.

my question, since our islands no longer belong to king Phillip, what name do you think our islands should carry? and what official language? explain.

note: filipino as an official language is not effective since many bisaya thinks tagalog didnt earn to be the national toungue and would rather speak english than filipino.

I am half American and half Filipino. My mother is completely fluent in both English and Bisaya and is willing to teach me the language. However, we do not know how to go about this. Where should we start? How do we follow through with it? What are some teaching methods that she should use?

I've always been fascinated by the cultures of our archipelago. My dad is from Mindanao, speaking the Mindanao dialect of Bisaya, and my mom is from Palawan, speaking Cuyunin. I'm also a student of political science, mainly interested in Philippine politics, and I find the imposition of Tagalog as the national Filipino language absurd. This is not to say that I think Bisaya ought to be the national language; I just feel that the national tongue ought to know how to speak all or at least most of the languages spoken in the territory concerned.

I love languages and learn them really quickly. It'd be great if you guys can refer me to a tutor (preferably not expensive) or at least to books I can study

Izqaia Pagan - i'm so sorry, i'm not a Bisaya and i can't find it in yahoo or google. it's for my report and i don't understand anything.

I was curious about this because during Dr. Rizal era he is using Spanish languages especially in his writtings like his ultimo adios and the two books, Noli and Fili. And if Tagalog was use during this time how come there are no known Tagalog piece or poem or any form of writing that was in Tagalog. I suppose everybody is speaking in Spanish and not Tagalog. I bet even Bonifacio is fluent in Spanish. Because he was once called a MISTISO. A mixture of Spanish and Filipino feature. The only thing I pity is why didn't we adopted 2 foreign languages, good in Spanish and also good in English at the same time fluent in Tagalog. We have all the advantages especially visiting Latin American countries like Ecuador, San Salvador, Chile, Peru, Brazil, Guatemala, and Europe like Spain, Portugal etc....can you provide a website that talks about Tagalog emerging language in the Philippines during the 17th century? I guess there are no person or persons dig further on the Tagalog subjects during these era. Is Rizal more concern of making Spanish the national language of the Philippines? I understand we have lots of different regional dialect like Ilokano, kapangpangan, bisaya at iba pa and the Tagalog language makes us more unfied in some sense. What do you think?

I live here in Davao and we widely speak in Cebuano/Bisaya, but we can also understand and speak Tagalog. Is this the same in the Tagalog regions?
