If they live in America, then they should take the class in an English as a Second Language environment.
If they speak it, why not?
Yes they should but only if they are in Filipine.
I don’t think that’s a good idea because terminologies in filipino mathematics are too long and there are only limited terminologies for filipino science as well; and it would be like murder of a language when during teaching, the teacher would keep on shifting from one language to another. however, for the sake of the students, they should only be explained in their vernacular terms for supplemental or remedial purposes to understand the lessons better.
i’m very sure filipino students would rather say:
one hundred twenty three million, four hundred fifty six thousand, seven hundred eighty nine times ten
for 123,456,789 X 10 rather than
isang daan dalawamput tatlong milyon apat na raan limamput anim na libo pitong raan walumput siyam paramihin ng sampung ulit
that are not only extra long but are also a bit confusing and hard to pronounce.
if there are filipino counterparts for those terms, they’re beter be taught.
like:
mathematics-sipnayan
science-agham
and most filipinos are not familiar with filipino terminologies in math and science.
