Well when I went on holiday there, I picked up some phases fairly well, but then I went home. It’s persistence that get you learning a new language. What I must say though is that there are several similar languages in the Philippines, so don’t get them confused. You probably mean Tagalog, which is the national language.
Much of the words are of Spanish origin, so if you are fluent in Spanish it shouldn’t be too difficult, plus the languages have introduced many English words too due to connections with America. I find the pronunciation a little tricky and the sentence structure too, but no language is easy, you’re not alone.
I’m a native Filipino speaker, and I think one of the hard parts in learning the language is the word order. It’s very different with English.
And all those prefixes! slight variations can modify the whole meaning of what you say!
