if your surname is 'taroogho' then your surname sounds like 'tarogo'
and in local street language, it means an erect p*nis.

To begin with, my name is Carl Joseph C. delos Reyes. And yes, I am a Filipino. I don't think that your surname really means gentleman. I do not know because most of the filipino surnames, if not all, are spanish in origin just like mine. The other typical filipino surnames are Reyes, Santos, Gomez, David, Gutierrez, to name a few. There is only a few number of filipino surnames which are original and yours is an example. Most of time, those surnames are very abstract. They don't know anymore what it means because they even came from very old languages which are not spoken anymore nowadays. Another example is abrenica. It's a native surname also but no one knows what it means - even those who have it as their surname....

your surname isn't really a pilipino language, it's a dialect or slang word representing something nasty and improper to even say or think about in public.
