		<description>Well, I can not find any proof, but I think that French words may have come into Filipino because Filipino is a language that incorporates several dialects into one, including Spanish, which is a close relative to French.  As well, French used to be the prominent language of diplomacy in the world (meaning that two representatives that had different mother tongues would speak French instead, so that they could understand one another.  (Nowadays, English has replaced French in this sense)  Because it was commonly known, French was incorporated into many other languages, and probably Filipino.  

btw I cannot find any reference that the French people ever colonized in the Philippines, so I do not think that French immigrants would have added anything to the language.</description>
