How come there are some french words in the filipino language?
Lots of tagalog (filipino language) words are almost the same as some french words. Here's some french that sounds like tagalog:
TURN - le coup (liko)
LITER - le true (litro)
BEHIND - le coud (likod)
FIVE - le ma (lima)
What was our original language and how did some french words get into it? I thought Spain was the only country who influenced the Philippines.

Well, I can not find any proof, but I think that French words may have come into Filipino because Filipino is a language that incorporates several dialects into one, including Spanish, which is a close relative to French. As well, French used to be the prominent language of diplomacy in the world (meaning that two representatives that had different mother tongues would speak French instead, so that they could understand one another. (Nowadays, English has replaced French in this sense) Because it was commonly known, French was incorporated into many other languages, and probably Filipino.
btw I cannot find any reference that the French people ever colonized in the Philippines, so I do not think that French immigrants would have added anything to the language.
well french and spanish are kinda similar. maybe thats why.
