well i am part filipino, i wasn’t born there, but some people have said because they have come to australia (i live in australia) they didn’t use filipino as much as they did so they have like sort of forgotten alot of it… it is a shame though
I applaud you for knowing the Filipino language. You should be a shining example to all half-Filipino, half-foreigner.
i admire people like you who are fluent in Filipino even tho they were born and raised abroad. It’s a shame that some Filipino parents who are married to foreigners/expats don’t take the advantage of making their children bilingual by teaching them as they grow. Learning and speaking Filipino may be pointless there, but it’s always good to learn it no matter what, as it can be really useful when having a vacation here/staying here for good.
My ex-bf was born and raised in Hawaii, he wasnt taught either Ilocano or Tagalog (Filipino) and it was obvious he felt he was missing something. He bought 2 English-Tagalog dictionaries and tried to learn even before we met but it was really hard for him since he’s all grown-up already when he started trying to learn.
im so proud of you!
galing mo pare!
