Filipino language question?
Why do filipinos use so many english words in their language?? Numbers, days of teh week, etc etc etc If this was done in french or german or russian or any other major language - people would think you lack culture or litteracy... whats up with that?? Why so many english words? its like they have no culture of their own
prove me wrong instead of just calling me an idiot
Dimitri, but doesn't the fact alone that a language has so few of its own words point to the fact that this culture is bankcrupt, backwards?

I’m not familiar with the Filipino language, but English has more than 600,000 words or some ridiculously high number like that. Many languages take an English word and make it sound like something in their language e.g. computer- computadora in Spanish. Otherwise they retain the exact word e.g. computer- il computer in Italian, and finally they may just translate the word directly e.g. computer mouse- souris in French.
The Filipino language may just have a small vocabulary and borrows from the biggest language in the world to fill in their gaps. I don’t know much about the history, but they might have had a large English population, my bet would be Wikipedia Filipino language, although I’m not going there myself tonight…lol
