Filipino is a beautiful language. Without being spoken with 20-40 % English. Right?
Won't the Filipino language be more appreciated when spoken proudly and not with so much English words.

@Mystic - Kapag po Pilipino ang gagamitin ko dito sa tuwing magtatanong, tinatanggal po ng Y!A. Ayan o, marami raw po akong "misspellings" kahit nasa Yahoo Philippines naman po ako.

bottom line… Philippines always been an accepting/tolerant culture. Go down south and they speak spanish/tagalog or in most of the country taglish. I think people want to be understood so they choose to learn the lingua franca of the world. Foreigners that learn tagalog though are held in high regard…
Filipino without interspersing with English is a good thing, it’s not our national language for nothing. I am all for it.
But on the same vein, unadulterated English is also a good thing. We have to learn both languages well, in other words.
Call me un-nationalistic, but the reality is that English is one of the competitive edges of OFWs and call center employees vs workers of other countries. (Their cheerful, compliant nature and hygiene are other factors, I know, but they’re useless if our OFWs can’t understand their employers, and call center agents serving international companies cannot speak it. )
yes indeed, tagalog is a beautiful language.
those who speak the language with some english (or taglish) as we call it are those who
are trying to impress. some call them pasosyal(or social climber) trying to project an image
that’s not their real.
hope i answer your question.
to lezah: i think you lost somewhere…. it just a simple question no need to include OFW’s or call center agents…????
I am proud to be a filipino but i am also proud that i could speak and write in ENGLISH . aside from PILIPINO LANGUAGE i also love the subject English . ENGLISH IS A VERY important to me now especially i am working here abroad that i used English to communicate to my colleague who are with a different nationality.
Okay sige na nga, lets start pala sa question mo, I know you can do it naman di ba. I mean, tanong ka naman using the Filipino language.
@waaaaa..
now you got my point. kasi nga, case to case basis po eh.
yes it is a beautiful language. but there are some instances when we have to use english words because there are no filipino counterpart for them.
I am conversant in both languages – English and Filipino. I can write prose and poetry in either language. But when it comes to conversational Tagalog, I don’t want to be laughed at so I use Tagalog interspersed with English words coz that’s how we talk. If the situation calls for formal language, I’m all for speaking in straight Tagalog (to the extent possible). But in informal settings, it has to be what is generally acceptable to most people. Taglish it is!
Filipino or Tagalog is indeed a beautiful language. It is a living language, too, and like all living things it is evolving i.e, borrowing or assimilating other foreign languages, in our case mostly English words, aside from Spanish.
At any rate, yeah, Tagalog in its purity is beautiful. ejejejeje
