well im of filipino descent. im both an english and tagalog speaker. will it be a hard language to learn even though i know how to speak an asian language?

The coordinator for the grandparents mass tomorrow wants to greet every single grandparent in different languages and she chose me to speak in Tagalog. I've been in America for a couple of years now and I was shocked when I couldnt translate the paragraph that well! I tried using google translate but it has wrong grammar. So I really need help translating this:
"Good morning Mr. Chambers, Mrs. Sergi, faculty, students, and a very special welcome to our grandparents. This morning we reflect and give thanks to God for our grandparents. It is through our grandparents' sacrifices and struggles, that we, their grandchildren, have been blessed with better life. We give thanks for their love. I hope you guys wont give me big or deep words that i wont be able to pronounce tomorrow. and its ok if you change some sentences as long as it still expresses the message

I mean what do they think of the foreigners? Do they think that these are really bad people? I am talking about Filipino society as a whole. How do Filipinos view these white people that are visiting their country? Are those smiles that they flash at the foreigners fake smiles? Is their kindness put on?

We are now in our junior year in college. Our topic should have something to do with english language or reading and as mush as possible it should be quantitative says our teacher. My groupmates and I were thinking of the following:

A. Debunking the myth that when you are good wiht mathematics your poor with using english as a second langugae and vice versa (but we don't know any related studies or articles and we haven't seen a related literature about it. can you suggest some good sites about it?)

B. Common error of using verb tenses of english in written or in oral by FIlipino language learners (we don have any problem regarding the related lit and studies but we are thinking about the tool. most of the related studies were qualitative)

C. teacher behavior or autonomy in class in correlation with the retention of the lesson of the students (no related lit and studies, no tool)

we've been doing learning styles and strategies since sophomore so.. uh as much as possible we want something new.

Im a 14 yr old Filipino and Im currently a senior. Believe it or not, I learned english by merely watching American cartoons at the age of 7.
But the problem is, I cant seem to use deep words. I can only use the simplest form of the words and I can only remember them AFTER im done speaking.For example, I know the word 'comprehend' but instead I'll just automatically say 'understand'.
In my school, we only speak english in The English subject and maybe also in PHYSICS(but rely) so I cant really practice. PLEASE HELP ME..

Being Filipino, I grew up speaking tagalog but because of school, I've almost completely forgotten how to speak it. I can still understand a good chunk of it though. How about any of you? How do you feel about it? Its VERY embarassing for me and I kick myself for it

I don't speak much tagalog, but I'm learning. Last year I recorded "Buong Buhay Ko" by learning it phonetically... my filipino friends said I did pretty well. Now I'd like to learn another especially for my gf, so I can sing it to her when I visit the philz this Fall.. Does anyone have a suggestion for a song that expresses my appreciation of her? I don't want anything too deep (we're in a new relationship.. I don't want to scare her by saying anything too emo.. lolz).
