Are there laws which support Filipino as the National Language of the Philippines?

Nothing like Spanish.I have been practicing Tagalog for 5 months now, using Pinsular language guides, and it is not easy to advance at all. I was told it would fun and each like Spanish, but it is not. I feel lied to.
Any Software sugestions?

Filipino,Spanish,Latin,French,Italian and Portuguese.

Hello everyone. For the past few months, I've been studying "Tagalog" which is the language of the Philippines in case you didn't know. I recently picked up "Pimsleur's Tagalog" and I'm progressing along fine. I didn't want this to be my ONLY method for learning, so I looked up some other methods.

I've read everywhere (including here on Yahoo! Answers) that conversing with your family/friends in Tagalog will help you pick up the language fast. Now, I find this hard because I don't even know what to say! My vocabulary isn't that broad and whenever they speak, I can only pick out key words and sometimes I can't even pick up any words.

Any suggestions? Should I finish my studies and get proficient before I start practicing? This is my first time actually committing to learning a language so any tips would help.

Learing Tagalog (Filipino language). I have repeatedly tried to learn, but I never make it past Chapter 2. I have used a language book and the Rosetta Stone program. I just get bored of it. Now I'm a little more commited to be like my people with our language.

Any tips to keep the learning in your mind? I'm in my late adolescent ages, is it harder to learn a new language at this age? Going to be my second language. Any tips on learning the language pronounciation and how to write other than the basic steps of learning a lanuage?
Salamat po (Thank you)

i already know the basics but i want to know things to say to my boyfriend cuz he only speaks Tagalog, like something really nice and sweet but i dont know what. so please help me if you can! thankz

How do you say the following words in JAMAICAN, HEBREW, GREEK, JAPANESE, SPANISH, FILIPINO, SOMALI, ARABIC and ROMANIAN
1.) Do you feel nervous
2.) How are you?
3.) Are you proud of your country?
4.) Do you want to greet someone?
5.) Relax!

I'm ethnic Filipino borned and raised in the UK, I got a German girlfriend and I'm planning on taking her to Manila for a visit. We looked it up and decided to stay at the Manila Peninsula.
Now, I know how dangerous it is for everybody in the Philippines. I don't mind snatchings and being robbed, I'm worried about kidnappings and corrupt cops.
I'm not really concerned for myself as I can blend in the crowd easily with my dark skin (unless I start trying to speak Filipino). I'm concerned about my girlfriend, who happens to be caucasian, 25 years old, fiery blonde hair and a hot piece of ass. In other words, she would stick out like a sore thumb when mixed with Filipinos.
My question is... how safe is it really in Makati? Does the area have better security since thay have all those classy hotels and malls there? Is it even safe walking on the sidewalk around 9-10pm?
Just Makati, we're not planning on visiting Malate, Binondo, Buendia or any of those tourist unfirendly spots.

As a Mexican I can talk to a Colombian, Uruguayan and so on there is definitely something very common here.We all speak Spanish. Compared to Asia and the pacific islands and other regions is there a common language that lets said that lets said and Indonesian can talk to a Burmese or a Filipino?

I am a bit confused how Pinoys use the word dialect. Dialect in the science of linguistic means a slight variation in the same language. For example British English and American English are two dialects of the same language- it means slightly different grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation but it is English nonetheless.
A dialect must be "of something".
For example in Butuan and Cebu they speak Cebuano but there si a slightly different vocabulary. Same in Leyte. So , one can say that Leyte people speak a different dialect of Cebuano from Butuan people.

However Cebuano, Tagalog and Ilocano are not dialects; they are languages- they have their own literature and TV stations and newspapers and are generally not understood by other speakers.

Vernacular is a regional variation of a dialect- as in different parts of a big city people may have a slightly different vocabulary and pronuncuation.

I think that the Spaniards humiliated the natives by not seeing the local languages as of their own right and simply calling them "dialectos", but they are not.

I keep seeing quite educated people here and at work ( I work with highly educated Pinoys) that make that mistake all the time.

Is this information news to you? If not, how many languages are spoken in RP, vs. How many dialects?

i want to know more english coz im not verry good speak english, can you teach me, or can you help me?

i can understand indonesian and at the basketball court everyone is filipino and they all talk filipino to each other. but some of the words they say are the same as indonesian words.

Considering that I am a U.S. citizen, though never been in the U.S. ever, which state should I consider moving into? I have work experiences in carpet laying, housing agent/realtor, carpenter, plumbing, electrician, cook helper, Project manager & coordinator. I can also speak Tagalog(Philippine language), Japanese, and of course English.

Do you think that my girlfriend would like it if I learned Tagalog for her. I want to be able to talk to her in her own language and show her how much I care about her. She has lived in the States for over for years and speaks english fluently would this be a romantic thing to do?

Ikaw ay aking mahal pusot kaluluwa sayo ko lang ibibigay ang pag ibig kong ito na para lang sayo bakit sinayang mo ngayon kahit ikay mahal pilit lilimutin pagkat akoy na sasaktan paasahin lang ako pag katapos ay ano iiwan lang ako

Any sites for Filipino citizen to learn english language?

Like they always randomly throw in phrases and words in English into a regular sentence when they're speaking Tagalog.

Please help me about this question, we have a serious argument in school. Although i'm a Filipino, i still need your opinion...
If possible, please make your answer more informative :)

I read this somewhere but forgot where and I just want to verify this...if anyone can give me a source/reference...I think it's only natural since we did trade with one another before the Spanish arrived. Thanks =)
Okay then, to be more specific for example, before the Spanish arrived, would a Tagalog person have been able to speak Cebuano and Ilocano as well?
