I'm Filipino, born and raised on Guam and I understand what the language means and all...but to the ears of non-Filipinos. What does our language sound like to you? Do you think it's Asian? Yes Filipinos are Asian... I want to know what people think of it as. Cause everytime I listen...it sounds normal to me because I know my national language. Please no harsh comments..I'm just wondering. Please and thanks!!

How do I say this in Tagalog:
Where is the _______?
I can't find it.
Where are we going?
Can we go to ______?
Please tell me how to say these formally and casually. Thank you!
**Also;; How do you say "Why?" formally?
One more thing: Do you talk formally when speaking to parents?

I think English has no place as an official language anymore, because it can be taught in schools without being official, and plus having English as an Official language hasn't really helped the country progress, it's still far behind other Asian countries.
I think it's an act of cowardice for the Philippine government to get rid of previous official languages and replace it with another, it's an act of desrespect and War to drop Spanish and keep English, shame on your government.
@Spamless you obviously believe the propaganda and lies spread throughout the Philippines and the world regarding the English language, but every event that has occured in favor of the anglosphere happened because of politicians trying to impose and change history, I have no time to correct you on your history.
gabay takan enaroen ya maong balet masakbay ne. man kabat tanen maong.. <<<translate mo yan
What are your comments regarding about it?
I guess people use this as an expression. Well, I'm not sure.
:]one of my closest friends speaks it so im learning it cuz ….. idk cuz I can ;]
But im kinda … Filipino and have the accent of one so sue me =p LOL
I have a good American accent too but learning to separate my pinoy/ American accent took like 3 years xD im trying tho ;o; (mehh I still have the occasional phuq up x3)
Also if its not too much trouble I cant find anything on how the grammar is so the best I can do is observe sentences if you can find anything that will help xD…… gimmie ;-;
=p and the biggest problem im having is that I cant find any mp3 tutorials for this language o: the best I can do is look at a pronunciation chart and/or look at youtube vids containing the language (the only one I could is a documentary about that war thing :I and they talk way to fast x3) so if you know where I can download a free mp3 file with the pronunciation of basic words/phrases/numbers OOOOOOO: that would be awesome (or a torrent ;3 that can work too)
Cuz when its just written I cant tell the difference at all between
Things like Č and ć or z and ž o:
Hvala lijepo ;]
and in what context do we use it?

Today is a turning point in each of our lives. We have spent the past years wandering the halls of this great school and now we are ready to go on.
We have learned, laughed, loved, gotten into trouble, and most of all matured together. But today doesn't just concern reminiscing about the past; it's also about looking forward into our future
Life is a series of passageways, and we are leaving one and moving on to the next. When we reach that daunting place next year that has been our destination for three years now, we will start over.
We will meet new people, make new friends, and learn new things. We will grow older, more responsible, and independent. Then, the cycle begins again in college, and after that, we are left to traverse the unmapped expanse that is our future.
Hereafter our lives will hold many surprises for us, but I'm sure that we will approach challenges with the same boldness and equanimity with which we tackle problems currently. The unknown of our future may seem frightening now, looming over us like a dark thundercloud, but we might find that it is just a light, spring rain that brings the tidings of a rainbow.
As I look over the many faces I behold today, perceptions of individuals are washed away. I no longer see people as they were; I see them as they will be. So, rather than a young boy, failing all his classes, I see the next Einstein, making revolutionary discoveries. I know that this amphitheatre holds the next decade’s great business leaders, doctors, politicians, scientists, and stars, and that all of these graduates will contribute to the fabric of the future in some way.
So when looking at the bright horizon that is my future, I am happy. For although my life will contain sadness and heartbreak, it will also hold joy, love, and success. And I know my classmates' will too. So don't look back, and regret, my friends, look forward, and smile.
thank you so much...will be choosing for best answer..+10..:)) need answer asap!!

I take an umbrella class of the Filipino martial arts several different styles meshed in one. I like it, but it meets only twice a week and its hard to get together with the other students, because they live on the opposite side of town. I want to remember the moves better Sometimes I carry a mini notebook and write down things right after class, but not always. Any tips or ideas for self practice? I've just been at it for about six months,
If so, can you say a phrase or 2?

Oh and I'm learning Tagalog...can someone tell me some common sentences used in the Philippines?
i need to learn the "basic words" and sentence structures, etc.
body, adjectives, adverbs, fruits, parts of the house, parts of a school, you know. "daily words".
My mom is teaching me, but we're not committed to it..
ugh..
any ideas to help me learn Tagalog in 4 months?
So two girls were talking about me on facebook. I'm friends with one of them but I want to know what she's saying about me. She speaks 3 languages but I assume they are speaking Filipino.
Here's what they said:
Girl1: wow! gwapo naman ng new bf mo..hehehe jokies...
Friend: tita naman! hindi yata noh!
kaw ha!
I'm half-Filipino, half-English, and know hardly any of my mother's language, since when I was little I showed no interest in learning, and was only interested in english. Now I have many friends who are all from the Philippines and I'm desperate to learn, but I don't know how, since my mother isn't a very good teacher.
Also, since I am only 16, I don't have a lot of money to spend on things like language CDs.
I've also been learning spanish for the past year or two, and recently I've been listening to some Filipino songs.
alam ko mga bagay-bagay ay naiiba ngayon. Kami ay may upang manatili strong sa gayon ito ay gumagana out. alam ko ito ay isang long distance relasyon. Umaasa ako sa iyo tunay na want ito. Dahil kukunin ko na gawin upang gumawa ng gawaing ito. Anumang bagay.
And what other language do you want to learn?
I speak Chinese, Tagalog and Spanish fluently.
I would like to learn French more, their accents are sexy.
i'm just asking, 'cuz people ask me how many languages i can speak but i'm not sure if I should say 2 or 3...
I speak english, tagalog, and visayan.
I'm not being racist because I know and love a few filipinos. It just seems that whenever they talk about "Pinoy Pride" it just seems like they were once ashamed of it. And sometimes when I hear people talk about them its like they're trying to inspire them in particular. Do filipinos have nothing to be proud of?
Could you please translate these expressions into Tagalog for me?
[1] I am at office.
[2] Right now / At this time.
[3] What are you doing?
[4] I am feeling hungry.
[5] Now.
[6] When did you wake up?
[7] Are you still awake or sleeping?
[8] What did you eat today?
[9] Did you get any information about (something)...?
[10] I am feeling so lonely without you near me.
Salamat kaibigans!
Did our tagalog originate or evolved from malaysian / indonesian language?
history tells us that indonesians and malaysians had came here, even citing that the first origins of filipino were malays since we look most similar to them. therefore, is it possible that we should have some sort of malaysian language within us, originally?
is that the bahasa ? is that all of it or just partial?
I just thought of this question while browsing my phone and tried to change it to malaysian language. but I never understood any of the functions
