This for our project in Filipino
i'm getting married soon and i would like to learn a little bit.
is there a link online?
I know that there are many dialects spoken in the Philippines but I was wondering if most the people there speak Tagalog. I would like to know this because I will be living there for the next two years and I would like to know what language to spend most my time studying. I heard that Ilacano is the dialect that most of the people will speak in the area that I will live in on the northern end of Luzon. Is this right? So should I try to study Ilacano as well?
I have observed that most people i know who are Filipino-Americans seem to talk about their homeland negatively. I am wondering if this is indeed prevalent and i wonder why they think this way?
My great-grandfather was from Leyte and I'm interested in learning the language at some point. Unfortunately, he passed away when I was little, so I never got the opportunity to learn about my heritage from him.
I need at least 10
She's told me its hard for her to speak in "Tugalog" but she can sing in Tagalog fluently......I don't get it? We talk to her in Tagalog, we watch Wowowee and MMK together so she can understand the language. Any tips to get her to start talking to us in "Tugalog"?
franz: she's only 4. at home, english is her primary language; her dad is white. when she goes to her lola's house, tagalog is the spoken language there. there's not a single child in her preschool who could speak tagalog-they're all non-filipinos.
hurjay_3: walang ibang bata sa bahay kundi sya lang. kaya hanggang tv na lang kme. nagustuhan nya yung kokey kahit corny.
joeyboy: you're right!
i love all of your insights! thank you!
i read a lot of notes, forums, letters whare these people are abbreviating words unnecessarily. if you're manually writing it on paper, or typing it on a PC shouldn't you use the exact spelling. I'm afraid if this goes on, in a few years our children will spell that way and will be the accepted norm already. What do you think?
Looking for a class that teaches Panantukan, Kali/Escrima/Arnis, etc.
As i said, im filipino.. but i cant speak the tagalog language and i would reeeaaally like to learn how. I am hearing all of my family members speak tagalog and i can sort of understand, i know words, but i dont know how to use it in a sentence, and i cant really have a tagalog conversation with someone. I really need to speak the tagalog dialect. Eto ba ang story ko. I was born in the Philippines, nalalis ako when I was 3 years old. So all my life I was raised in Chicago. I returned back to the philippines in October this year, it has been 6 years since my last visit. Now, I want to return back there ksi, maxado magsaya ko. Bumalik ko sa pinas in December, but I want to make sure when I return back. matatas lang ko magtagalog. Sorry, I'm trying hard to correctly write the Tagalog Dialect. I feel embarassed that I have to speak english to everyone, when I am a full blooded filipino. I feel like when I was there, everyone expects me to speak tagalog tagala. Mahirap naman magsilta Eh.. now, I'm napakratis lang ko every day, I watch TFC, I work on Rosetta stone, I read the english tagalog dictonary, and I chat in tagalog with pinoy kabigan. At least I try. Even though my wrting is not good. But I want to know if I keep up what I do, will I be fluent by next year?

The Philippines, in the past few years, have been the favored as site for many BPO companies in the US. As a result, the sales and customer service agents Americans reach are more and more likely to be Filipinos. Some say we, Filipinos, compared with Indians, speak betterand more grammatically correct English, and likewise are easily understood by Americans. Conversely, it is said to be that Filipinos also are able to comprehend English more than Indians. I do know that proficiency in English depends largely on an individual's skill on the language, and not on nationality. But there are certain factors, especially with regards to exposure to the language, that puts the Filipinos in favor.
What is the story's exact conflict? How about its time and setting/place?
I need some highly poetic Pilipino songs to help a friend learn pilipino.
